A Warm Welcome From Mrs Martin, Executive Headteacher, Arun Villages Federation
Welcome to St. James' CE Primary School website. It is our pleasure to be able to use this platform to share our lovely school with you and be able to give you a flavour of what life is like at St. James'. We hope that you will come to visit our verdant, leafy grounds and tour the classrooms to meet our friendly staff and see what the children are learning. We look forward to seeing you.
'Enabling every child to thrive and succeed'
Our mission statement is clear - we want all children to thrive and succeed socially, culturally and academically in order to be prepared for the next phase of their education. Ultimately, we want to lay the foundations for our children to be responsible and well-rounded citizens in society throughout their lives.
Arun Villages Federation Vision
Our shared vision with Amberley CE Primary School is:
At Arun Villages Federation, we care for EVERYONE. We embrace challenges and all opportunities to learn, recognising the value of education and persevering even when it feels difficult.
We are uncompromising in our aspirations, proud of our – and each other’s - achievements and look forward to embracing the experiences the wider world offers.

In order to achieve the vision, we want to equip the children with the 'AVF Backpack', which is full of academic, cultural and social knowledge to move them forward on their journey. Read more about this by following this link: Curriculum Intent
Arun Villages Federation Values
Respect, Kindness, Honesty, Positivity and Teamwork
Interwoven into the fabric of school life, our five core school values are promoted and encouraged with the children. Each week, one of the core values is focused on and unpicked to help the children demonstrate these. As a whole school, we celebrate a chosen 'Values Ambassador' from each class who children and adults can nominate. It's a highlight of the week!
